Consent is always paramount.

How does it work?

First, you will always be with your child. You will be with them through the whole routine and be a part of everything they experience.

Second, your child will not undress. The routine is mostly kneading with some pressure on specific areas. You need only have them wear comfortable clothing.

The kids massage routine is a full body Swedish massage. Every part of the body is addressed, with extra time spent on particularly sore spots. There is also a craniosacral portion which can help the mind focus and relax. Other modalities and tecniques can be applied depending on the needs of the client.

What can a kid gain from a massage?

  • Insight

Just the same with adult massage, every kid massage comes with a full evaluation. This can give insight into where they store their stress or where they might be overwhelmed.

We all know kids are very resilient, and are perfectly capable of pushing through all manner of discomfort, but alleviating that discomfort can grant a physical and emotional benefit. In addition, the self-awareness can grant additional insight into the body. Its common for clients, even kids, to realize and appreciate just how much their body does for them.

  • Focus

One of the best advantages to massage therapy is the mental calm that calms as the body relaxes and the parasympathetic nervous system takes over. This benefit is great for children also, who are constantly developing and looking for stimulation. Taking the mind’s focus off the body grants a period of calm which is very therapeutic.

  • Comfort

As I always say, consent is always paramount. No client should ever be touched in a way that they are not comfortable with and I assure every parent that it is essential to the therapy to maintain that boundary.

The massage I provide is very gentle and therapeutic. The primary focus is to provide relaxation and comfort. There needn’t be deep tissue work or uncomfortable stretching to provide the kind of systemic benefit that kids can benefit from.
